lumberyard spending is within the county.
Respondents from
Glenwood, Starbuck, and Long Beach purchases significantly more hardware and
lumber products within the county than those from Cyrus, Lowry, or Sedan.
Families with
someone working outside the county purchase a lower proportion of hardware and
lumber products within the county.
The difference in spending is greater for those outside the Glenwood
– Long Beach area.
Higher incomes
tend to purchase more of these products within the county than those with lower
family incomes.
Advertising
specials does not appear to have nearly as strong an impact on spending more
than some of the other products studied in the survey.
More selection,
convenience, better service, competitive pricing were all mentioned as factors
that would encourage more local spending.
