Stopping Distance

Project 9

Your objective is to create a two page report on computer disc to be turned in at the completion of the chapter.

The first page of the report you should:

find a web site that gives the formula for stopping distances of automobiles. The distance should include the driver's reaction time.

make a table of stopping distances for 10, 20,...,80 mph.

plot the data in the table.

* As usual, creativity will increase your score.

The second page should consist of a report of the steps you went through to obtain your information. Include key words you used and the web site address of the formula. Would it be appropriate to fit a line over the data you graphed? If not, explain why. Suppose you have 150 ft (about 10 car lengths) between your car and the car in front of you. Find the maximum speed you should travel. Explain how you found this.

Note any difficulties you may have encountered and where errors may have occurred.

Please be sure to use good sentence structure and spelling in this report. Include a title, introduction, and conclusion.
