Reactions & Comments:

About 60 percent of spending on prescriptions and medical supplies is within the county.  About 49 percent of the respondents purchase over 80 percent of their prescriptions within the county.  There is a great amount of purchasing being done outside the county with about 20 percent responding that they do 0 to 20 percent of their prescription purchases within the county.

Those employed outside the county have a lower percentage of prescription and medical supply spending within the county than others.  The percentage difference is about ten percent less.  This difference is not statistically significant.

There are large differences is spending percentages across the county.  Those living in Long Beach, Glenwood, Starbuck, and Sedan have the highest local spending percentages.  Those living in Cyrus, Villard, and Lowry have the lowest.

Advertising does not seem to be very important to spending more in the county, but expanded hours does seem to be a factor that might influence more spending within the county.  This seems to be particularly true for those currently spending between 40 and 80 percent within the county.  Thus, those that have the opportunity to spend more in the county do mention hours and convenience as a factor that might influence them to spend more within the county.

Good, helpful service is clearly an important factor in spending more locally on prescriptions.
