EXTRASENSORY PERCEPTION (ESP)

Designed by Engin A. Sungur

In a test for ESP, the experimenter looks at cards that are hidden from the subject. Now you are the subject. Each card contains a star, a circle, a triangle, or a hexagon. Here are the cards:

As the experimenter looks at each of 20 cards in turn, the subject names the shape of the card. Here is the card that I selected.Name the shape of the card, and click on the card to see whether or not you gueesed it correctly.

Repeat this 20 times and record number of times that you guessed correctly .

If you were simply guessing, what is the probability of a successfull guess on a single trial? .

Why is this a Binomial experiment?

  1. .

If you were simply guessing, what is the probability of correctly guessing at least the number of your correct shapes? (Use the Binomial table with n=20 and p=0.25).

Based on the probability that you have found, is it likely that you were simply guessing?
